Unpack the hustle and bustle of an airship loading dock... with BananaSplit!

What are the system requirements for BananaSplit?
You need a computer running Windows (10, 8, 7, or Vista) and approximately 18.5 MB of free disk space.

You also need an installation of the .NET Framework 4.5.2 or later, but most Windows computers come with some version of it already installed. If you need to manually install it, you can download it for free on the Microsoft website here: https://www.microsoft.com/net/download/Windows/run

Beyond those requirements, almost any PC made in the last decade should be able to run BananaSplit without issue.

Is BananaSplit available for iOS, Android, OSX, or Linux?
No, and currently there are no plans to develop versions for those platforms. However, if there is significant interest in porting BananaSplit to a particular platform, it could happen in the future.

What audio file types does BananaSplit support?
Currently BananaSplit supports MP3, WAV, AAC, and WMA audio file types.

Can I use BananaSplit commercially?
If you purchase BananaSplit as a private individual with your own funds, you have a personal license to use the software. A personal license allows you to personally use BananaSplit in a commercial capacity (as part of your job) or privately (at home). This license may not to be purchased, refunded, or in any way financed by a company.

If you would like to license BananaSplit for an organization, company, or business entity, please contact me directly and we can try to arrange something.

How are updates handled?
When updates to the software are released, you will receive an email with a link to the install file for the new version. If you already have a previous version installed on your machine, all you have to do is run the new install file and your old version will be automatically updated, preserving any settings you have modified.

Once you have purchased a copy of BananaSplit, all future updates are free.
Are there any large new features coming in the future?
For the most part, BananaSplit is considered feature-complete. In its current state, it does everything it was originally envisioned to do, so large new features are not planned for the foreseeable future. That being said, bug fixes and minor enhancements are still pushed out as needed.
I'd like to request a feature or report a bug. How can I do that?
Please use the contact form listed on the Contact page. For bugs and feature requests, please be as specific and clear as possible about the issue you are experiencing or the feature you would like added.

While I cannot enact every request, I do try to at least respond to all inquiries.

Where did the name "BananaSplit" come from?
There are two reasons I chose the name BananaSplit.

The first reason is because as a dessert, a banana split takes regular ice cream and then adds toppings like hot fudge, whipped cream, and a banana to make an extra-yummy treat that is better than ice cream alone. In a similar way, the BananaSplit application takes individual sound clips and lets you arrange them, combine them, adjust their settings, and play them in a way that makes them more useful and dynamic than the sound clips alone. I'll admit, the comparison is a bit of a stretch, but I like it.

The second (and more significant) reason for the name comes from a memorable Dungeons and Dragons session I participated in.

My fellow players and I were infiltrating the camp of a hostile army that had kidnapped an NPC we needed to rescue. We made it all the way to the middle of the camp without being detected, and found the tent where we thought the NPC was being held. From the outside, a tall shadow was being cast on the tent wall. We assumed the shadow must be of the guard that was in charge of watching the prisoner. We hatched at plan: one of us would enter the main entrance to the tent disguised as another guard, confirm that the NPC was in the tent, and then use the code word "banana" in conversation to alert the other party members that they should stab their weapons through the tent fabric from the outside and kill the guard.

When our disguised player entered the tent, he discovered that the shadow being cast on the tent wall was created by two guards standing on either side of the seated NPC. If the disguised player used the "banana" code word without somehow warning us, our characters would stab right between the two guards and kill the NPC! Thinking quickly, the disguised player made up some dialog about how he did NOT like bananas, but DID like banana splits. We made a difficult dice roll to see if our characters were able to comprehend the message he was trying to relay to us, and against all odds, we succeeded! We stabbed through the tent on either side of the shadow, killing the two guards silently and sparing the NPC. From then on, "banana split" became our group's secret code word for everything.
